Love Is the Doctrine of This Church
Honoring
our Legacy

Rooted in a heritage that dates to 1700, First Parish Brewster is a beloved spiritual home for members and friends and a shining beacon of hope for the larger community.

Life-affirming spiritual values – love, truth, service and the sacredness of life – guide the work of the church. The First Parish Endowment Fund provides a vital economic foundation for our work.

By expanding the fund, we support the mission of the church today. We also honor the legacy of those far-sighted individuals who first financed the endowment, and we serve as stewards for future generations.

The First Parish Mission

It is the mission and purpose of First Parish Brewster:

  • to be an inclusive, welcoming and diverse community that celebrates the inherent worth and dignity of each human being;
  • to nurture moral and spiritual values without dogma; and
  • to be an advocate for social justice in the larger community.
    How Does Our
ENDOWMENT FUND
                  Work?

The First Parish Endowment Fund is a legal entity to which individuals, families and businesses can make gifts. These gifts may be in the form of cash, securities (stocks and bonds), insurance policies, retirement plans or property. Often, gifts are made in memory of an individual.

These gifts are held in the Endowment Fund and managed by the First Parish Endowment Board.

The church uses investment income earned on the assets of the fund to support church programs, enhance building and grounds, expand community outreach and/or develop the wider mission of the Unitarian Universalist Association.

Because the principal of the fund is not used for expenditures (except under extraordinary circumstances) the fund is a permanent and growing resource for the work of the church.
