Helping Hands If you ever need a ride to the doctor, a ride to church, your furnishings rearranged, flowers from the altar, restorative soup, finding a specialist...or whatever, CALL ON HELPING HANDS— Sue Bowser, 508-385-0967. Monthly Community Daré Everyone is once again invited to the monthly community Daré (pronounced Dar-ray) to be held at Chuck Madansky’s and Wilderness Sarchild’s Sunday, August 31st from 1-9 p.m. Daré is an African Shona word meaning a sacred gathering for healing purposes. We are privileged to have Mandaza Kandemwa, a traditional African healer from Zimbabwe, facilitating the healing work at this month’s Daré as part of his annual visit to Cape Cod. We will not be following the usual Daré format in order to give as many people as possible an opportunity to gather with Mandaza and experience in indigenous understanding of healing. All are invited and all ages are welcome. We will gather in the yurt, around the fire, in the sauna, and down at the pond for large group healing work with Mandaza. Bring towels, swim suits, firewood, instruments, and a substantial, delicious pot luck dish (no alcohol, please). Come or leave anytime between 1 p.m and 9 p.m. This is the only time during the year when we ask for financial donations. In order to support Mandaza’s important work here and in Zimbabwe, we are asking each of you to donate as much as you can. As always, no one will be turned away for lack of funds. Donations are tax deductible. There will be other activities associated with Mandaza’s visit. For more information and directions, go to www.capecoddare.org. Oct. 18 10-12 At FPB we have been challenged to consider the idea that we are all ministers. Ministering at its most fundamental level is the ability to respond to another with love. That is also the definition of parenting. It is the most primary of relationships. It is what challenges us, what grows us and what grows another. As such, it is unrivaled as a spiritual path. Together let’s support and share with one another as we explore this idea. Judy Harrison facilitator. Painting Exhibition by Sue Scammell Will be held in the Parish Room the month of September. The paintings will be for sale with 30% of proceeds going to the First Parish Restoration fund. The Parish Room will be open for viewing Saturday mornings from 9-12 and Sunday mornings.
